Dustin Mealor Wins Time Trial!
Dustin Mealor was the overall winner of the Thursday Night Race of Truth Time Trial Series 2005. Lowest Gross Time -- Joe Burch MTB Event -- David Latty Most Appearances -- Matt Martin, Nancy Wise, Daniel Short Most Improved -- Dustin Mealor (SAND Bag Award) Dustin Mealor came from behind to take the season championship of the Thursday Night Race of Truth Time Trial Series 2005 Edition. It was a shocker but it really should not have been. Dustin had improved steadily all year but had leveled out over the last two events. Then he threw down his best time of the year in the final event to over take year long series leader and defending champion Nancy Wise. She finished 2nd followed closely by Scott Hefner who moved up with a terrific time also, in the final event of the season. Scott managed to knock of Joe Burch for the first time this year in the Low Gross time Division, but Joe had the lowest gross time of the year 25 min and 36 sec. over the hilly 10 mile course to take the Lowest Gross Time Award for the season. Dustin also received the Most Improved Award (SAND Bag Award). This is truly impressive considering that Dustin was recovering from a broken collar bone and fractured elbow. He took a nasty fall at the Fat Tire Festival in May of this year, reports say that he was riding over his head when the accident occurred. It seems that riding over his head is an regular occurrence for Dustin as he keeps improving. His overall times improved by 2 min and 50 sec. over the course of the three month event. Last years winner Brad Lewallen presented Dustin with the coveted Sand Bag Award and gave a truly inspiring speech. The event was well attended with 22 riders posting times during the season. Twelve of those competed the required 4 times to be eligible for the season long championship. The event was sponsored by Habersham Bicycles. T-Shirst were provided by Short Mfg. Co./ Graphic Image USA. Reported by Danny Short
